HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK:

On the first day of the season, one of our new guests Emma Forsythe hooked and landed a fish of a lifetime. It is a fish that will be talked about for years to come, and likely be the highlight of our season: A 30-inch Rainbow!

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

“Holy smokes, that dang fish took the hide right off my thumb!” -John Lynch, Idaho

COMMENTS FOR THE WEEK:

Every year, our first week seems to set a tone for the rest of the season. With the arrival of guests follows the migration of fish filling the runs in the lower river. This week set the bar high! The fishing each day improved significantly, beginning with a 30-inch Rainbow, and double-digit days on Kings. Our guests targeted mostly for Kings and found success with both fly and conventional gear. The recipe isn’t anything out of the ordinary. The fish are fresh and aggressive; Flies and Spin n’ Glows presented at the right depth are hammering fish. Stories of bigger Kings are being told! Late in the week, we have seen Sockeye, Chums and Dollies marching along the inside bars. Were confident they will become a big part of our game plan in the coming weeks. With Fish pouring into the river, it’s a great time of the year to be on the Kanektok. Week one is in the books and we can’t wait for the rest of the 2019 Season.
