In 30 years of fly fishing the Alaska lower camp week was the best week of fly fishing in my life. The guides and boats were great. The camp is remote but as organized and dialed in as can be. It is evident that the Duncan’s have decades of knowledge as the trip was near flawless. Even the meals exceeded expectations and are on par to fine dining in the Alaskan bush.
Met two of Dave’s sons. Both were quiet gentlemen and nice folks. They ran the UBC and LBC. From my observations they were like conductors of the band. They put together the following, excellent accommodations, 5 star meals along with guides whom were real stars. These young men were just awesome, 5 different guides on 5 different days, got to know these young men and hear their stories.
Over the past 24 years I have had the pleasure of fishing with the Duncan family for a total of more than 50 weeks! That just about says it all! I am so impressed with the whole family and how they take pride in their operation, putting their “Customers” first with safety always being a top priority! I consider them family and would recommend a trip with the Duncan’s to anyone planning on going to Alaska. You will not be disappointed.
Fantastic Trip! Alaska at it’s best. Fishing for Kings outstanding everyday with lots of rainbows and chum Salmon for the fly fisherman. Food was best ever on any trip. Congratulations on the excellent, well run camp with all the accommodations.
Always dreaming about the river and your letters keep that dream alive. Glad to hear you are finally getting around to doing the photos. You have our disk with all our photos on it. Choose the ones you want. If I could give a quote I would say ” after many trips with the Duncan’s ,they continue to make you feel a part of their family.

Floating Alaska’s Kanektok River is one of the ultimate fishing and wilderness experiences. This scenic river flows through the designated wilderness area of Togiak National Wildlife Refuge (TNWR). Most of Alaska’s big game and bird species are common within the TNWR and during your float trip it will be possible for you to see many in their natural habitat.
Our family has spent over thirty-five years developing specialized camps and boats for comfort and convenience. Only the best inflatable boats, tents and camping equipment are used. Each raft features rowing racks, floor boards to stand on while fishing and anchoring capabilities that allow guests to fish any drift in the river.
You will be flown by a chartered float plane to an isolated wilderness lake (Kagati) surrounded by stately mountains. This is the beginning of a remarkable journey down a small river that has incredible numbers of Leopard Rainbow Trout, Arctic Char, Grayling, Dolly Varden, and all five Salmon species. The Kanektok river continually grows in size and changes in character as it flows from the mountains, through the foothills and finally merges with the sea.
When it’s time to load the plane and return, the person going home is a different person than the one that came. He or she has a deeper appreciation of, and respect for, the fishing experience and Alaska’s vast wilderness.
90 Miles of pure fun. The price for this exceptional fishing experience is $6700 – Airfare not included
