Tom & Tyler Andrews with nice Chums!

WATER TEMPERATURE AND CLARITY:

Water temps are hanging in the low 50sF and clarity is still 3-4ft due to some heavy rains at night.

WEATHER CONDITIONS:

Weather has been on the cooler side this week with most daily temps reaching the mid-50s and overcast conditions with some occasional rain and wind.

HOT FLY OF THE WEEK:

The Mouse put up good numbers of trout in the side channels whereas the most effective salmon fly turned out to be the Squid-row in pink and purple.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK:

Tom and Tyler of Oregon caught some large kings while focusing on the chums throughout the week and made for some nail-biting fights on their 7wts.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

“We are not worthy”- Fred

WILDLIFE SPOTTED:

Lots of migrant songbirds are around singing their little hearts out and the eagles are following the sockeye upriver. We saw two bull moose swimming across from camp and the bears are leaving prints on most gravel bars. Also, two wolves were seen just below camp.

COMMENTS FOR THE WEEK:

The salmon have arrived! The river is filled to the brim with chum, kings, sockeye, and humpies. The dollies have started to come in, as well, and are expected to really pick up in the next week. The trout bite is also heating up, even with the cooler water temps. The density of fish in the river this year is truly something to behold!
