LOWER BASE CAMP FISHING REPORT WEEK OF JULY 6th to 13th, 2019

WATER TEMPERATURE AND CLARITY:

High 50’s low 60’s. Gin clear in the upper river, slightly cloudy in the lower.

WEATHER CONDITIONS:

Record breaking heat. We have had three days of temps in the 90’s. It cooled up a little later in the week, but we were still in short-sleeve shirts.

HOT FLY OF THE WEEK:

Black and White Dolly Lama. A.K.A the Skunk

HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK:

This week’s highlight was the trout fishing. With low and clear water, the trout are hungry and happy.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

30 consecutive years speaks for itself. Peter Cockwill from England

COMMENTS FOR THE WEEK:

It’s 90 degrees and sunny. Big Kings are still rolling in the lower river. The Rainbow fishing is as good as it gets. The fish are here, and we have had another incredible week on the Kanektok! With record breaking heat this week, we took advantage, and did tons of trout fishing. The fish are aggressive; when the mouse lands in the zone we are expecting a fish. In the mornings, before the sun gets too high, the salmon fishing is good. More big Kings were caught this week, and the Chums are starting to stack up. In our upper river, big Dollies are beginning to hold. It’s that time of year again when we see great species diversity and abundance. With an awesome group of guests, and some amazing fishing, this week was another for the books!
