WATER TEMPERATURE AND CLARITY:
Water temps are holding at 50F and clarity is 3.5 to 4ft.
WEATHER CONDITIONS:
Weather has been overcast with occasional scattered showers in the afternoons, mainly.
Great salmon weather!
HOT FLY OF THE WEEK:
Black/chartreuse intruder-style patterns have been doing work on the Kings.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK:
We’ve had numerous large kings landed this week, both on fly and hardware, and it’s
hard to choose just one highlight.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
“We have fished all over and this is the best week of fishing of our lives”- Tom from OR
WILDLIFE SPOTTED:
Birds are on the move. We’ve been seeing tundra swans, green-winged teals, lots of
gadwall, golden and bald eagles, nesting arctic terns and ringneck plovers, and the tree
swallows have been helping us out with the mosquitoes. Some beaver, moose, and bear
have also been spotted.
COMMENTS FOR THE WEEK:
Oh, baby, the kings are back! We are seeing an incredible king return, especially
compared to recent years past. Feels like old times again. The sockeye and chum are here
in force, as well. With the cooler water temps, the rainbows are a little finicky but are still
worth targeting by those who are willing to put in the work, especially on the warmer
days. There are still plenty of grayling around, too. Dollies are being caught sporadically
but, are expected to show up in numbers within the next week.
