WATER TEMPERATURE AND CLARITY:
Water temperatures are in high 40s to low 50sF. A few days of heavy rain throughout the week have reduced clarity to ~1ft.
WEATHER CONDITIONS:
Weather has been mostly overcast with some particularly windy and rainy days in the mix.
HOT FLY OF THE WEEK:
Bug-eyed leeches in pink put up great numbers of salmon this week where larger orange beads did well on the rainbows and dollies.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK:
Walt from Santa Barbara caught his personal best Dolly Varden while drifting beads behind spawning salmon. The other highlight was meeting our new friends Larry Ryan and Bruce Cook Families, David Ferrario, Mike and Walt Brose and The Johnson’s.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
“Cast two feet to the right. INSTANT silver hook up!”- Rob Johnson.
WILDLIFE SPOTTED:
Lots of speckle belly geese, rock ptarmigan, gadwall, and some eagles and osprey have been sighted this week. Most notable mammal sighting was a mink wrestling a buck chum salmon along the bank.
COMMENTS FOR THE WEEK:
The river has come up significantly and the Silvers have really poured in due to the surge of water. It has made the Rainbows and Dollies a little tougher to target but they can still be found wherever there are spawning salmon.
