Tate Petersen with Jeff Sellmeyer’s beautiful Rainbow Trout!
WATER TEMPERATURE AND CLARITY:
Water temps have been stable in the mid 50s F. Clarity has been ~6-8ft.
WEATHER CONDITIONS:
It has been a fairly wet week although we’ve had a couple days of nice, sunny days in the mix. Most days have been windy and rainy with some gusts in the 40mph range.
HOT FLY OF THE WEEK:
The black & white Dali Lama proved to be the superior fly for silver salmon, whereas the bead/flesh combo did some serious work on the trout and dollies this week.
HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK:
Jeff and Sabrina from Oklahoma landed a 25” rainbow with 16” girth while floating a side channel with Tate.
QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
“Setting the hook is free, worst thing that could happen is you catch a fish.”
WILDLIFE SPOTTED:
Many bear, mink, and beaver as well as a pine martin were spotted this week. As the alder leaves have been dropping and changing, the specklebelly geese and brants have started their migration south. It’s fall in Alaska!
COMMENTS FOR THE WEEK:
As our season comes to an end, we’ve been reflecting on the fabulous fishing of not only this week, but the entire season. It’s been a terrific 2022 on The Chosen River full of great guests, awesome guides, and incredible memories.
