LOWER BASE CAMP FISHING REPORT

REPORTING FOR THE WEEK OF AUGUST 14th to 21th, 2021

WATER TEMPERATURE AND CLARITY:
Mid 50’s. clear

WEATHER CONDITIONS:
This week the weather was great. We had one rough day with high winds and rain; the rest of the week was cool and mostly overcast.

HOT FLY OF THE WEEK:
The Bead for the Trout and Dolly’s; The Lama or the popper for the silvers.

HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK:
We got the big wave of silvers! It happened early in the week. Clear night, full moon and big tides. The next morning the number of fish in each hole had more then doubled.

WILDLIFE SPOTTED:
We are continuing to see good number of Bears out on the river. Some Osprey are hanging out near camp and the Turns are starting to get territorial.

COMMENTS FOR THE WEEK:
The Trend of better and better silver fishing continues. It picked up big time this week even with the water levels staying where they have been. We started fishing the popper and are getting a good number of fish to come up top. On the days where the sun stays hidden the fishing was good from start to finish. When the sun came out, we switched over to trout and Dolly’s. The spawn is still on but the Dolly’s have been on the move. This made rolling the bead for trout a lot more effective because it wasn’t just a total Dolly fest. Some of the Trout are even starting to transition back to the banks. Guests that decided to try and throw the mouse were surprisingly rewarded with some great fishing. With good weather, better fishing, and awesome guests, we had another great week on the river.
