WEATHER CONDITIONS:

HOT FLY OF THE WEEK:

Pink spin n glow

HIGHLIGHT OF THE WEEK:

It’s been a handful of years since one of our guests landed a true 40lb King. Back in the 80s and early 90s lots of these fish were around but times have changed. In the last five years we have seen a dramatic improve in our King runs. This week Cutler and first-time guest Chris Ouztf hooked and landed a buck that was 43 inches long and had a girth of 26 inches. The fish topped out just over 40lbs! With big Kings being caught every day we can’t wait to see if we can catch another one this year.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

“Cast that dry fly up that way I just heard a grayling eat.” -LBC guide (the fish was caught)

COMMENTS FOR THE WEEK:

Man does it feel good to be back on the Chosen! The river is starting to come in to shape, and the fish are starting to show up. This week fishing improved every day. We focused most of our efforts early on back-bouncing for Kings. The King fishing has been great with 20 to 30 plus pound fish landed just about every day. As the week continued, we started branching out, fishing Trout, Chums and Grayling. We had one guest whose first fish on a fly rod was a Rainbow Trout on a mouse. The Trout are definitely spread out but covering water led to plenty of epic mouse eats. Chums began showing up in good numbers the last couple of days. Our first time guests had a great time learning to fly fish and landing lots of big dime bright salmon. With the river dropping and clearing fast it’s a great time of the year to be on the river. The 2025 Season is officially underway.
