Where We Fish in Alaska |
Our Upper Base Camp is located in the designated Wilderness Area of the Togiak National Wildlife Refuge and it is right in the heart of the best Rainbow Trout water on the Kanektok river. Guests have the option of float fishing for Rainbow Trout, Arctic Char, Dolly Varden , Grayling, or anglers can walk and wade small remote side channels where it is possible to spot and stalk large Leopard Rainbows. Fly fishing for Salmon at the Upper Camp is equally remarkable. This section of the Kanektok River has a lot of great holding water and habitat for the strong runs of King, Chum, Pink, Sockeye, and Silver salmon. This is wilderness fishing at its best, it is not uncommon to fish all day and not see another angler. The Upper Camp is limited to 12 guests with one guide
and two guests per boat. June 24 to September 2
"I
came to the Upper River Base Camp with three goals in mind: to catch
a King Salmon on a fly rod; to catch a Rainbow trout on a mouse
pattern; and to catch a nice Rainbow with my father's antique case
rod. My guide said, "No problem. We'll do all those today."
And we did!"
