COMMENTS FOR THE WEEK:

The beauty of fishing the Kanektok in late July is the diversity of species you can target. This week we had guests catch as many Chums as they could handle. Two hours later they would be in a side channel casting dries to rising grayling. From targeting kings in the lower river to fishing Dolly bars close to camp, this time of year you can do a little bit of everything and that’s what made this week such a blast. Oh, and let’s not forget about the trout! This week we had a couple of really good trout days. The fish are beginning to transition off of the banks to behind the Salmon. When they do that, they go into big time feed mode. Trout were caught on Mice, Beads, and a wade range of streamers. With the clarity really improving we are also starting to see more trout in some of the side channels that were previously either too fast or murky to fish. Our guests that fished hard for trout were rewarded with mouse eats and big healthy eager fish. Additionally, we are starting to see some Silvers showing up. While only a couple have been caught, we are looking forward to targeting them more in the coming weeks. With a great group of returning guests this week was an absolute blast.
